About
#SPRINGathon2019
Dear business and creative folks, programmers and developers, journalists, product visionaries and subject matter experts, we are happy to invite all of you to our first SPRING Hackathon! Take part in this year’s challenge to hack the GROWTH code, and test and explore new ideas, meet colleagues from other teams and get inspired.
The Topic
With this year’s topic we want to explore how we can grow with new ideas. Key questions are: How can we reach teens with our products? How can we expand classic written news into other channels and media forms, such as video and audio products? And how do we enable further growth of our premium brands in this regard?

Rules and Code of Conduct
1. Participation
The SPRINGathon is for everyone working at Spring and other invited Axel Springer subsideries! You can participate as developer as well as designer, concept developer, researcher, product owner, business guy or a journalist. You don't need to be a professional; you will be working in a team. To participate in the hackathon you have to get your free ticket on our Eventbrite page.
2. Competition Rules
2.1 Prior to the hackathon’s beginning, feel free to work on your ideas, digital mockups and other preparative things. Note: no coding should be done beforehand. Of course we love initiative work and ambitious spirits – but to be fair, we like everyone to start at the same level.
2.2 If you already have code projects you would like to extend, please disclose this at the project presentation, so that the judges can take this fact into account when deciding on the winners.
2.3 Teambuilding will be done at the beginning of SPRINGathon. We want to have teams consisting of people from different departments.
2.4 Teams can consist from 2 up to 5 members, an ideal size is 4-5. Teams should not include more than 2 members from the same department. The teams have full ownership of everything they build at our event and are free to do with it as they wish. If you like to make your project open source, then this is up to you, but this decision is to be made by your team.
2.5 Prices are planned for teams of max 5 members.
2.6 After team forming, each team must list their project as soon as possible on our GitHub Space, please name one person in charge of documenting!
2.7 The hack presentations should be functional product demos of your work and – please – not only powerpoint slides (you’re hackers here, not marketeers, so please be creative…! ;-) )
